Here at Revo, we get to work on some really interesting and challenging projects. The past 12 months have been difficult in their own right, with the Covid-19 Pandemic, subsequent lockdowns and social distancing restrictions; but, when you are under pressure to complete a project, you need a leading office refurbishment firm to take the bull by the horns and simply get it done.

This year we managed to complete a fantastic remodel and makeover of a highly challenging building; converting it from an agricultural building into a state-of-the-art boardroom. The Large Barn

Unit 11 at Waltham Court is the Large Barn; a listed building set in an area of “special character”, just 50metres South West from the Historic Hill House & Coach house. According to National Heritage, this stunning building dates back to the late 17th Century. This stunning building is one of several agricultural buildings in the area and is regarded as a heritage asset, an irreplaceable resource and should be conserved in a manner appropriate to its significance.

This project has been multi-faceted with conservation at its core. We have been tasked with converting and modifying the 160m2 timber frame building to create an alternative, fully-serviced office space which can be used as a high-level boardroom.

The Project

The existing foundations of the building required underpinning in order to build two internal mezzanines which created an additional 40m2 of workable space with a full WIFI network and power infrastructure.

The two mezzanine structures are independently supported on steel frames with minimal imposition to the existing building fabric. This innovative and impressive space contains an open plan Boardroom, new kitchen and island, breakout area, conference room, office resources area and separate office. The new space has been fully kitted out with New CAT5, WIFI, CCTV and Fire Alarm system.

The interior design aspect of the project was taken care of by our colleagues at Edgington Spink & Hyne, who did a magnificent job meeting the client’s brief. The styling inside has an unquestionable industrial feel utilising the exposed mezzanine steels and combining industrial-style crittall glazing and bespoke steel chandeliers.

The clear glass balustrades leading to the mezzanine level were designed in order to maximise the visibility of the barns original structure and features, showing off each of its stunning Queens Post design roof trusses.

Our team worked tirelessly on site in order to deliver the final project against all odds. The work was completed during the COVID-19 lockdowns and so naturally, we had some disruption to material and product supply chains, but we are delighted to have completed this wonderful project in good time.
